The New Razer Anzu Smart Glasses Plays Audio and Protects Your Eyes

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have had to adopt new practices to prevent the spread of the virus. One of these new lifestyle changes is the transition to working from home, spending much more time in front of the computer as we carry out office meetings over various video conferencing platforms rather than having them face-to-face. The increased dependency on our computers, while helping to curb the spread of COVID-19 has come at a price. Computer and mobile phone screens emit blue light which can have negative effects on our eyes after prolonged exposure.

Razer, better known for electronic products targeted at the gaming community, have released pair of Smart Glasses which feature innovative features which will benefit not just gamers, but anyone who spends an unhealthy amount of time in front of a screen. The new Razer Anzu Smart Glasses are Godsend in these changing times. Combining the features of a stylish pair of glasses, complete with built-in protection against harmful wavelengths of light, and a audio capabilities of a true wireless speaker, this innovative gadget is perfect for the work-from-home generation.

“The Razer Anzu modernizes the wearable category in terms of convenience and blue light or UV protection,” noted John Moore Razer’s Head of Sales and Marketing. “With Anzu, Razer is entering the market at a time when there is a surge of people working from home – where eye protection, hands-free communication and smart features are now in high demand.”

The Razer Anzu comes standard with lenses that filter out 35% of harmful blue light emitted by digital devices, reducing eye fatigue and helping to prevent damage in the long run. The lenses can also be swapped out for polarised sunglasses lenses which protect our eyes from 99% of UVA and UVB rays. This combined with the IPX4 water resistance rating means that the Anzu is perfect for both indoors and outdoors. If you require prescription lenses like yours truly, Razer is offering 15% off lenses from Lensabl if you purchase the Razer Anzu.

Of course, what really makes the Razer Anzu different from a pair of normal glasses is its smart functionality. The Anzu features a customised Bluetooth 5.1 connection which Razer says cuts latency down to a mere 60 milliseconds, providing the user with smooth audio, free from pesky delays and stutters. It should also be noted that the Razer Anzu uses an open ear design, courtesy of a 16mm driver in each side of the frame wired in stereo, allowing for a multi-directional listening experience.

This is paired with an omnidirectional microphone and an intuitive touch interface on the side of the Anzu’s frame, giving the user control over their music players, calls and smartphone voice assistants. As mentioned, the Anzu has a water-resistance rating of IPX4 which means it will handle small amounts of moisture from workouts and light rain.

It automatically shuts off when the frame is folded, achieving up to two weeks of standby power.
