With every new smartphone release, we will be bombarded with lots of new information and distilling all of that can be quite a challenge if you do not regularly keep up with the latest happenings. Fret not, if you aren’t too sure of what to look out for, we have compiled a list of the top three important features that you should know regarding the Galaxy S21 Series 5G.
Advanced Processor
Equipped with the latest chipset such as the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 (for the US models) or Samsung’s own Exynos 2100 (which Singapore will be getting), you can expect even faster speeds when handling games, multi-tasking or having multiple apps open in spilt-screen view. More importantly, the flagship series supports 5G connectivity in Singapore as the nation moves towards digitalisation.
Protecting our personal data has become a topic of discussion recently and in a bid to assure customers of their security, the brand has introduced the Samsung Knox Vault. That is a proprietary chipset level security platform that not only helps to encrypt your biometric authentication data but also allows you to unlock your phone faster even if your finger is dry with the larger, lower latency Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor.
Display
All three models get a Dynamic AMOLED 2x display and is HDR10+ certified. What this means is that there will be reduced blue light emitted, which helps to lessen sleep disturbance when using the device through the night. Furthermore, the certification ensures that cinematic colour and contrast are enabled in the phones, displaying top-notch quality photos.
If you are looking for an even better display option, then you might want to consider the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. With a 120Hz variable refresh rate and Quad HD+ display, this flagship model will adjust the refresh rate such that the optimum viewing experience is conferred to you while also maintaining the longevity of the battery life through utilising the power efficiently.
Camera
The Galaxy S21 and S21+ models spot an array of triple rear cameras: 12MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide, and 64MP telephoto capable of a 3x hybrid optical zoom. While the cameras are the same as the Galaxy S20 models, what differentiates them is the software. A major update has been made to the photo processing capabilities of the new series.
For example, using the Single Take mode, all three cameras will be utilised to capture a variety of photos and video footage with just a single tap. Therefore, if you are snapping fast-moving objects, you be can sure using the Single Take mode maximises the chances of getting a usable image or clip. Another interesting feature is the Director’s View mode which enables you to shoot with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. This mode is especially dedicated to vloggers and content creators, so that they can capture reaction shots of themselves, which they can splice in alongside their main footage.
As for the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G model, it has a quad-camera set up featuring a 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera, 108MP Wide-Angle Camera, 10MP Telephoto Camera with 3x Optical, and a second 10MP Telephoto Camera with 10x Optical. What this means is that the Ultra model is capable of shooting videos in 4K quality at 60fps across all cameras and in the Pro mode, you can export photos in 12-bit RAW file. You can expect to better quality photos taken during the night or when the area is dimly-lit due to the phone having various sensors and modes such as the Bright Night, Night Mode and the 12MP Nona-binning technology.
Starting with a price of S$1,248 for the Galaxy S21 5G, prices will differ according to the models.
