Benetti reveals new Class, Custom yachts
Benetti has released details of the Motopanfilo 37M from the Italian builder’s Class category and the 67m Custom yacht FB284.
The Motopanfilo 37M features a bronze painted ‘ribbon’ around the aft bulwark
After this year’s launches of the Diamond 145 from its Class category yachts and the first Oasis 40M, Benetti has unveiled details of the Motopanfilo 37M due to premiere in late 2021 and the 67m custom build, FB284, an on-spec build due to launch in late 2022.
The 121ft, four-deck Motopanfilo sits at the heart of the builder’s Class family of yachts, in-between the Mediterraneo 116 and Fast 125.
The Motopanfilo’s observation deck offers a private, romantic retreat
The Motopanfilo tips its hat to the 1960s Motopanfilo style epitomised by Benetti. Motopanfilo is an Italian word that was used in the early 1960s to denote the large motor yachts that became synonymous with glamour and the jet set lifestyle, and much-coveted objects of desire among socialites, royalty and prominent personalities from the worlds of business and entertainment.
Francesco Struglia designed the 36.8m yacht’s exteriors, revisiting the original midship construction elements that linked the hull and superstructure, and has combined them in a single ‘shell’. Bronze paint is used to create a seamless ‘ribbon’ that defines the bulwark and runs from the main deck to the upper-deck overhang.
Lazzarini Pickering Architetti’s interior design emphasises the yacht’s ‘ribs’
Standout exterior areas include the observation deck on the hardtop, where a private cocoon surrounded by glass offers a private retreat, while the transom door opens up to create a bathing platform and reveal a private area for sunbeds sheltered by a canopy. The garage for the tender and water toys is to the side.
The interiors are by Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering from Lazzarini Pickering Architetti, whose work for Benetti includes the 52m Sai Ram launched in 2004. Light wood has been used on both the floors and the gently curved ceilings, while the nautical theme can be seen in the touches of white and blue wood.
The tops of the cabin walls follow the gentle curve of the hull
The owner’s suite is in the bow of the main deck while the four guest cabins, all able to accommodate double beds, are situated on the lower deck where a small sauna can be installed.
The displacement hull can reach a maximum speed of 16 to 18 knots, depending on the choice of MAN V12 engines.
Giorgio M. Cassetta designed the exterior of the 67m FB284
Soon after the recent coin ceremony for the 62m FB283, Benetti revealed details of the FB284, a 67m build and part of the shipyard’s Custom collection.
With an exterior by Giorgio M. Cassetta, the six-deck megayacht is Benetti’s latest to be built on a platform also used by the 63m Metis and three yachts in build – the 65m FB270, 65m FB274 and 67m FB278 (Project Fenestra).
The outdoor lounge forward of the owner’s cabin on the upper deck of FB284
The main deck features a particularly long lounge furnished with spacious sofas and a dining table seating 14. Forward are a spacious pantry and big, square-shaped galley preceding the two VIP cabins.
The other four guest cabins are on the lower deck, which also has accommodation for up to 19 crew. The spacious beach club features a hammam, bath and shower, while a gym can also be fitted depending on the owner’s needs.
FB284 has saloons on the main deck (pictured) and upper deck
The upper deck is dedicated to the owner. The master stateroom in the bow has a private study and two separate bathrooms, one with a bath and shower, the other with a bath, and both with long basin tops. There’s another spacious lounge, just a little smaller than the main-deck saloon, while the aft deck has a big dining table seating 14, sofas and a bar with stools.
The bridge deck is designed as the party deck. The shaded area can optionally be closed off to form a veranda fitted out according to the owner’s needs, with the outdoor lounge areas served by a bar.
The owner’s suite forward on the upper deck offers expansive views
A well-hidden outdoor stairway leads to the almost 90sqm sun deck, which has a bar, sofas and a forward Jacuzzi installed in a podium.
